Welcome
to the Ultimate Sport Fishing Experience!
Since opening in 1996, Midway Sportfishing
has gained an international reputation as a record-breaking fishing destination for many
species, yet has consistently marketed and proven itself to be responsible by releasing
the vast majority of the catch unharmed.
Because of its remote location, both local
and offshore fishing pressure is negligible, and since the island is an American
possession, all international commercial boats must remain outside the 200 mile Exclusive
Economic Zone. Accordingly, during the operating season (roughly April thru October),
anglers trolling offshore can catch six species of Billfish (Pacific Blue Marlin, Black
Marlin, Striped Marlin, Spearfish, Sailfish, Broadbill Swordfish) along with other
pelagics such as Ahi (Yellowfin Tuna), Mahimahi (Dorado or Dolphinfish), Ono (Wahoo),
Kawakawa (Kawakawa), and Aku (Skipjack Tuna).
Furthermore, within and just outside the
confines of the reef making up the Atoll, anglers will almost certainly experience the
power of big game bottomfishes such as the Ulua (Giant Trevally) and Kahala (Amberjack). |
