June/July until late October is the
prime time for offshore fishing, with big Yellowfin Tuna and Billfish available early in
that time frame. Blue Marlin do seem to wane in November through May, but often much
of this is made up by good Striped Marlin action, along with the large Yellowfin.
During prime time most boats average
a billfish a day although three blues/day is not uncommon. The blue marlin caught during
the best months reportedly average about 250 pounds, the Striped Marlin about 125 pounds,
sailfish about 50-60 pounds and dorado about 20-35 pounds.
April through August is the best
time for inshore action with some huge Roosterfish and Grouper available, along with
Pargo, Sierra and various Jacks. Live bait are slow trolled down the beach from
pangas and casting from the beach is also an option. Be sure to bring your shore
casting gear as its tough to find once youre there. |
